In the 9th century, a shepherd from Ethiopia in the Kaffaa region notices that his goats are jumping around energetically after eating coffee cherries. Coffee is discovered! It makes its journey through the Arab world and ends up in the Ottoman Empire. Coffeehouses are opened, new roasting methods are discovered, and a lot of coffee is consumed.
